Barton-le-Clay

Development of a 28.8 hectare (71.2 acre) site of agricultural land to the east side of Barton-le-Clay, close to the Barton Hills for Taylor Wimpey

The vision for Barton-le-Clay is to deliver a new residentially led quarter to the existing village which is community focussed and environmentally conscious.  We have developed the master plan to deliver a high quality development that promotes place making.  Our master plan delivers up to 500 new dwellings, a school and public open space with retention of an existing woodland, trees and hedgerows.

We have led the design team working alongside a Planning Consultant for the Outline Planning Application.

The site is visible from the Barton Hills and lateral tree lined corridors have been introduced into the master plan to visually screen and break down the proposed development from this important view point.  Conversely, the master plan facilitates views out of the site towards the Barton Hills.

The layout is a distorted grid pattern informed by the linear constraints of the site.  At the same time the Primary Street achieves legibility through changes in direction shaping and constraining views but also passing through a main Square and Greens.
